Research & Internships

  • Engineering Summer Program at UPenn

Amidst a lively classroom buzzing with keystrokes and hushed discussions, I found myself immersed in a dynamic learning environment at ESAP. Each day brought new challenges—debugging intricate code, dissecting algorithms, and collaborating on projects that stretched my understanding of computer science. One particular task had us build a program from scratch, pushing us to optimize its efficiency and navigate complex problem-solving scenarios. As the project took shape, I felt the thrill of seeing abstract concepts come to life through lines of code, gaining not just technical skills but a deeper appreciation for the logic and creativity that drive programming.

  • NASA

Navigating the complex datasets from NASA’s satellites, I explored climate patterns, coding models to analyze environmental shifts. Through the Student Enhancement in Earth and Space Science (SEES) internship, I collaborated with peers on data visualizations that revealed subtle changes in the Earth's atmosphere. We dove deep into the science behind environmental monitoring, applying machine learning to discern trends that might otherwise go unnoticed. The program reinforced my skills in data analysis and coding, while broadening my understanding of how technological solutions can help address global challenges.

  • African History Research Practicum

During the African Research Practicum, I focused on the Portuguese presence in Cameroon during the early stages of the slave trade. This research involved analyzing historical documents and engaging with local communities to explore the cultural and social impacts of colonialism. Through this experience, I gained valuable insights into the complex historical narratives that shaped the region, contributing to a deeper understanding of the historical context surrounding the slave trade and its lasting effects.
